I am a teacher. Today was the first day of school. Even though I am on the other side of the desk these days, I still get excited for the first day of school. I always buy new school supplies and my mom still buys me a new back to school outfit. I never sleep well the night before school starts. I probably woke up four times throughout the night ready to get the day started. I actually got out of bed at 6am and started getting ready. I wanted to get to school early to make sure I had everything set for when the students walked into my classroom. I was proud of myself because I was ready a few minutes early…all I had to do was put my shoes on and grab my bags and I was out the door. Problem. I could only find one shoe. This sent me in a frenzy trying to go through my closet to find the matching shoe. I scared poor Pepper with my loud and frantic search. I had to wear another pair of shoes and left the house in a huff.
On my drive to work, I gained control of my annoyed thoughts and reflected on how important it is for me to stay organized now that that school is back in session. By adding marathon training to my already busy schedule, it is so important for me to stay organized so I feel in control of my time and not overwhelmed by my to do list! So….I made a change to my balance activity for today and spent some time organizing. Guess what? I still haven’t found my missing shoe!
