Laura’s Summer Goal Week 8 Update

     Hot! Hot! Hot!  Humid! Humid! Humid!  Need I say more?  We’ve been at the beach and though I love the ocean the weather has seemed exceptionally oppressive.

       Tuesday I didn’t get my workout in.  I let the heat talk me out of it and took a nap instead.  I felt sluggish all day and kind of grumpy, so I decided that I needed to make a new plan to get in my workouts.  On Wednesday I got up about 6:45 AM and went to a park to run for 30 minutes and then to the Wilmington Yoga Center (http://www.wilmingtonyogacenter.com)  to a great Core Yoga class, which I am feeling today.  It was hard to be gone that long from my family while on vacation, but I had a lot more energy the rest of the day and was in a great mood.  Thursday I again got up about 7:00 and did a 25 minute run and then a 40 minute yoga practice on our porch.  It was a great practice, many times I can only practice yoga on my own for about 20 minutes, but today I just kept listening to my body and  thinking of different poses that I wanted to do.   Now I’m enjoying some coffee and feel relaxed and ready for the day.  For me, the power of exercise is so huge that even on vacation I need that time for myself and need to find different ways to make it a part of my day. 

      Stay cool and be sure to drink lots of water!
